Erik Höglund / 1932-1998 / Sweden
After studying sculpture at Konstfack in Stockholm, he worked as a designer at BODA from 1953 to 1973.
With a primitive style that feels the warmth of the hand born from Nordic traditions and indigenous culture, he has brought a new wind to glass crafts.
Erik Höglund's unique style, which is not bound by preconceived notions, was not easily accepted by craftsmen, retailers and consumers, but Erik Höglund won his trust through his passion for manufacturing and his tireless efforts. I went.
In 1957 he won the Lunning Prize, the most prestigious award for Nordic designers. At the age of 25, he was the youngest to receive the award, among illustrious laureates such as Hans Wegner, Tapio Wirkkala, Kaj Franck and Timo Sarpaneva.
Erik Höglund is the model for the glass factory artist in a small mountain village in "My Life as a Dog," directed by Swedish master Lasse Hallström.
