Hand Crafted Contemporary Burnished Barrel Fired Round Ceramic Vessel Sculpture

About

Beautiful large round burnished barrel-fired vessel in black, orange and cream. Created by Oklahoma artist and sculptor Wayneath Weddle. Oversize in stature, this round sculpted vessel features a narrow tapered opening at the top and could be used for displaying tall florals. Burnished barrel fired pieces are a rare find, as they are labor-intensive. The process begins with throwing clay on a wheel and shaping it into the desired shape. Once the desired shape is achieved, the piece is dried, sanded and oiled and burnished with rocks. After burnishing, the piece is bisque fired for 10 - 12 hours in a 50-gallon drum of sawdust. A lengthy process that creates a beautiful piece. We love large pieces, as they create wonderful focal points in a room. This beautiful round vessel would be a wonderful statement piece in a foyer, center table or console table.
