Large Murano Scavo Vase Attributed to Seguso, Italy

About the Item

Large and heavy handmade vase in burnt orange and deep blue with the typical "sandy" mixture giving the piece a bit of a rough texture. The technique was developed for giving glass the antiquated, dug-up appearance of archaeological artefacts, possibly by Seguso. Scavo means "unearthed", a special powder mixture is sprinkled on the surface of the glass and set into the glass by multiple firings. In great condition without damages or cracks.
