Lg Murano Blue Turquoise Sommerso Bubble Vase Style Antonio da Ros for Cenedese

About

Incredibly large and heavy Murano Sommerso glass vase in blue and turquoise with encapsulated large bubble in the base. This beautiful vase is not signed but in the style of Antonio da Ros for Cenedese. It is in wonderful vintage condition. There are some surface scratches to the bottom as you would expect with use. Please see photos, circa 1960s-1980s. My eyes must have been a mile wide when I first saw this absolutely gorgeous vase! It is unsigned and no paper label. Sadly, most people couldn’t wait to take off those pesky paper labels. But research has led me to believe this is attributed to Antonio da Ros for Cenedese. I have found identical vases signed by Ros with this heavy Sommerso style and the large encapsulated bubble, which was a signature style of his, in the base of its oval conical shape. Its azure blue and turquoise green colors are simply magnificent and another point toward an Antonio da Ros attribution. Cenedese & Co. was founded in 1946 by Gino Cenedese along with some important glass artists and experts: Angelo Tosi, Alfredo Barbini, Gino Fort and Pietro Scaramal. However, by 1949 he was its sole owner and began collaborations with other Venetian masters and artists through the years. Among those collaborations was Antonio da Ros who became artistic director in 1959. Ros, born in Venice in 1936, used the Sommerso technique or submerged glass to great success, often with Uranium green glass that glows when subjected to ultra violet light. To my knowledge Antonio da Ros remains as Artistic Director at Cenedese to this day. This phenomenal piece of art glass needs to adorn your home. Make it yours.
