Loetz Vesuvian Candia Iridescent Glass Vase with Tadpoles

About the Item

Stylish Bohemian Vesuvian Candia iridescent glass vase with tadpoles by Johann Loetz Witwe and dating from around 1901. The simply shaped wide vase has a wonderful golden iridescence with multiple colors and with six tadpole designs applied around the body of the vase. The identical example is shown in the Loetz catalogue as the Crete Glatt design in green iridescent glass but this example seems less common. The vase has a polished pontil mark and is not marked. In good condition with normal age wear to the base.
