A very stylish German Royal Rudolstadt hand painted twin handle lidded porcelain vase of ovoid outline and impressive proportions, last quarter of the nineteenth century. The lobed body with heavily gilded mask handles, superbly decorated with alternating lobed panels of floral sprays and leaves and fruits and berries in relief. The neck in lines of cobalt blue and gilt with fluted rim, ending with similar decoration to circular spreading base on square support. Condition: Superb condition for such an early piece, no evidence of any restoration wear to gilding at high points, see images, tiny chip to cover inside at edge. Base mark RW for period 1887-1918.
