Pair of Japanese Satsuma Vases

About the Item

A fine pair of Japanese Satsuma vases raised on gilt-bronze bases. Each vase with an elongated trumpet shaped neck and tapering cylindrical body, painted and gilt with panels of warriors and officers in a stylised landscape, surrounded by floral and geometric motifs. The vases raised on circular gilt-bronze bases cast with Elephant head and ball feet. The vases Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912). The gilt-bronze bases, French, Circa 1900.
