Pair of Majolica Kingfisher and Lilies Vases Fives Lille, circa 1880

About the Item

Elegant 19th century French Majolica pair of vases attributed to Fives Lille. The vases are shaped like walls decorated on the front with kingfishers on branches, on the base mushrooms and herbs, above the birds large pink lilies all in high relief. They are an excellent example of the virtuosity of the early production of the manufacture of Fives Lille. Professional restaurations on the beaks. Fives Lille Gustave De Bruyn create a manufacture around 1870 close to Lille. Because his success he expanded the size of his buildings producing mostly Majolica. His manucture earned a silver medal in 1889 during the Paris exhibition.
