Plissee Porcelain Vase Duo by Martin Freyer for Rosenthal, 1968

About the Item

White bisque porcelain vase duo from the Plissée series, designed by Martin Freyer for Rosenthal Studio-Line in 1968 and produced in Germany during the 1970s. Both vases feature Freyer’s distinctive pleated relief surface, giving the matte porcelain a soft, almost textile-like rhythm. The deeply modelled folds create a beautiful play of light and shadow, making the forms feel animated even in a simple monochrome finish. The pair brings together two complementary silhouettes from the series. The ovoid vase has a rounded, balanced body with a gently tapering neck, while the trumpet-shaped vase opens outward with a more architectural, flared profile. Displayed together, they create a strong sculptural composition with excellent contrast in shape, while remaining unified through material, color and surface. Sold as a pair.
