Antique Royal Doulton Vase with Art Nouveau Decoration by E. Violet Hayward

About the Item

An early 20th century art pottery vase from Royal Doulton of England, date marked for the period between 1901 and 1922. The vessel was hand-decorated in the Art Nouveau style by E. Violet Hayward and Christine Abbot; the upper part of the vase features relief molded and stylized blue iris blossoms inside a medallion with a light olive green ground matching the rim. The lower two thirds of the vase is enveloped in a mottled glossy glaze of rich cobalt blue. The vessel stands 9.5 in. H x 4.38 in. diameter (at widest) and is in very good condition with a few faint scratches. Fully marked underfoot with the impressed Royal Doulton factory mark, form number "6943", "CA" monogram of Senior Assistant Christine Abbot and an "hd" monogram for Royal Doulton artist, E. Violet Hayward.
