About the Item

Very beautiful dark copper glazed vase with a baluster body and a laced neck and flared muzzle, the hammered decoration is present in the shoulder area. Hayno Focken (Lahr, 1905-1968) was a German metal artist and silversmith. Hayno Focken completed an apprenticeship with Professor Karl Muller (1888-1972) at the Design and Art School atBurg Giebigenstein in Saalle, which was linked to the ideas of the Deutscher Werckbund and the Bauhaus. Focken, who was based in Lahr, Baden-Württemberg, created mainly sacred equipment (candlesticks, altar crucifixes, measuring jugs, host containers, bowls, etc.). Other works, such as his 1949 silver coffee pot, are in the "streamlined" style of Art Deco.
