Vintage Deruta Ceramic Vase, Italy, 1930s

Deruta ceramic vase is a wonderful colored vase realized in the 1930s. Very good conditions. Ceramic vase light blue colored and decorated with different figures Marked under the base Deruta. Deruta is a small town of just under 10 thousand inhabitants located in the province of Perugia and whose craftsmanship is entirely recognized in the production of Majolica. Deruta ceramics are known all-over the world and its history has ancient roots that go back to the Late Middle Ages. The first evidence dates back to the end of the 13th century and since then the production of ceramics has always strongly influenced the economy of the city and still does today. The ceramic activity of Deruta experienced its highest moment in the 1500s, when decorative and commonly used earthenware furnishings were produced, from plates to tiles, from cups to vases. The Majolica was decorated with pictorial themes such as female busts with scrolls, mythological scenes, battles, sacred images, and decorated with stylized polychromatic motifs.
