Aldo Tura Green Thermos Decanter in Goatskin and Brass for Macabo, Italy 1950s

About the Item

Stunning thermos decanter in vitrified dyed green goatskin and brass. This charming object was designed by Aldo Tura for Macabo in Italy during the 1950s and is signed on the bottom. The piece shows fantastic craftsmanship as the inner and insulating element is handmade with glass and walnut wood and then covered in vitrified goatskin with a unique green color. The contrast between the brass and the green body is incredibly elegant. The decanter is in amazing conditions and fully original, the brass has not been polished to preserve its historical value and the wonderful golden patina. A fantastic item that will enhance and elevate a mid-century project. Dimensions in cm: Depth - 13 Height - 30 Aldo Tura was an Italian furniture designer best known for his mid-century tables and lamps. Combining his interest in Art Deco and Art Nouveau with the minimalist, low-key design of the 1940s and 1950s, he often used unusual materials such as parchment, eggshell and goatskin, often employing wheels and casters in his projects. Born in 1909, Tura began manufacturing his signature furniture in the 1930s, focusing on limited production of handcrafted designs produced within the confines of traditional craftsmanship. Tura died in 1963 and earned the nickname "parchment master" for his use of the material.
