About the Item
Fine, large George III period sterling silver barrel shaped tankard by William Fountain, London, 1806.
Beautifully engraved with an ornate armorial crest of three fleur de lis and the motto Candide Comme la Fleur, Fair as the Flower, within a Rococo cartouche, topped by a knight's helmet and a fleur de lis, surrounded by an elaborate floral wreath tied with a bow in the center. The circular barrel form body centered by an oval medallion for a personalized inscription flanked by floral and foliate garlands.
