Art Deco Period Edwardian-Style Sterling Silver and Leather-Mounted Flask
About the Item
Art Deco Period, Edwardian-style, sterling silver-mounted flask, made in the city of Sheffield, England, year-hallmarked for 1933, James Dixon and Sons - makers. The leather mount, which is in very good condition, has a slim, elongated, oval window on both sides of the flask so the amount of liquor left in the flask can easily be seen. The lid is hinged, and has a bayonet closure; the cork is in good condition. The sterling silver bottom of the flask is removable and has been gilded allowing it to serve as a drinking cup (see photos). The flask and its drinking cup are slightly curved in design to make it easier to slip the flask into a pocket. The flask measures approximately 5 inches high (at highest point) x 2 3/4 inches wide (at widest point) x a little over 3/4 inch deep (at deepest point). Dark areas on sterling silver in photos are reflections. In very good antique condition.
