About the Item
Very hard to find "Rare Woods" palisander rosewood ice bucket by Jens Quistgaard for Dansk, circa 1960s. The line was introduced in 1961, and "Rare Woods" products were made with the finest designs and materials. The piece is in very good vintage condition and measures 9"D x 18"H. #1694
Dansk described them as: "Good design grows out of its materials, no matter how hard they are to come by. Designer Jens Quistgaard has gone to the jungles of Nicaragua, Brazil, British Honduras and East Africa for the world's rarest, most exotic woods. And what has he done with them? He has made the world's rarest and most exotic salad bowls, ice buckets, carving boards, trays, salt and pepper sets. And what must you do? See them, touch them, hold them in your hands."
The piece has been recently oiled and looks fabulous; contains a finely carved with plastic liner insert. The ice bucket is signed on the underside.
