Sterling Silver Wine Label "Gin" by Harry Bladon, Birmingham, 1965

About the Item

This is a solid, cast, English sterling silver wine label, marked GIN made by Harry Bladon ( born Henry), of Bladon & Co. Birmingham, in 1965. The label has a nice canted oblong shape, with a curved profile to wrap around a decanter. The shape has a triple incised line around its perimeter with the name; GIN engraved on it. The label has a good original interlocking link chain. This label is fully hall marked to the back. It weighs 10.5 gram.

    This is a very good hand-blown, English, mid-Georgian, Wine drinking glass with a round funnel (RF) engraved bowl on a solid stem, dating to the middle of the 18th century, circa 1760. These glasses are very collectable. It is made from English lead glass which is relatively heavy and has a soft grey colour. The RF (round funnel) bowl is well engraved with OXO under rim and a facet cut bowl base, sitting on a a solid stem, over a conical foot with a snapped off pontil below to the underside.     A fine antique Georgian English sterling silver ‘madeira’ decanter label / bottle ticket made in Newcastle; an addition to our wine and drinks silverware collection. This fine antique George III sterling silver decanter label/bottle ticket has a subtly convex, plain rectangular rounded cornered form. The body is embellished with a simple tooled decorated border and the engraved name ‘MADEIRA' to the center.
