Thomas Wallis II Antique 1800s Pair of Sterling Silver Goblets

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Georgian English sterling silver goblets; an addition to our range of wine and drink related silverware. These exceptional antique George III English sterling silver goblets have a plain circular bell shaped form to a waisted pedestal onto a circular foot and square foot. The upper rim of each body is embellished with a bright cut engraved band of floral and foliate ornamentation. The circular feet are ornamented with bands of tooled decoration. Each square foot is accented with a simplified pin struck border. Condition These antique goblets are an exceptional gauge of silver for their type, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition in keeping with age. The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each goblet are all clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these examples of Georgian silverware.     An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian sterling silver gilt goblet; an addition to our wine and drinks related silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver gilt goblet has a circular bell shaped form onto a knopped pedestal and circular spreading foot, in the classic pineapple style. The body of this impressive antique silver goblet is composed of chased and embossed lozenge shaped convex panels, replicating the fruitlets/spikes of a pineapple, each ornamented with a quatrefoil-floral design. The decoration to the body incorporates an impressive quatrefoil shaped cartouche displaying the contemporary engraved monogram initials 'HM'. The upper rim is encompassed with an applied band of bead decoration. The waisted pedestal features a circular knop to the centre encircled with further floral motifs. The circular spreading foot is encompassed with a continuation of segmented lozenge panels, reflecting that of the body. This sterling silver goblet retains the original gilding; the gilding to the exterior of the goblet has worn with age in a sympathetic fashion.
