A rare form bowl by Ed Moultrop, circa 1970s. Etched on base "Ed Moulthrop, rare dawn redwood, Metasequoyah glyptostroboides, From the Arboretum of the Atlanta Historical Society", with square branded cipher and sticker, 4 x 10-3/4 in. minor surface anomalies. Notes: Sticker reads as follows "Long believed to be extinct, and only seen in million-year-old fossils, the dawn redwood was discovered in a remote region of China in 1941 by a group of American plant explorers. Seeds were smuggled out and distributed to some botanical gardens for subsequent propagation".
