Constantin Center Piece in Canaletto Walnut, Oak wood and Bronze Made in Italy

About the Item

Constantin centerpiece is a simple and useful stand for the table. The base is in solid oakwood stained black with a cross shape; the round top ø 30 cm is in Canaletto Walnut. On the top a bronze handmade handle with an ergonomic bean shape. It is light and elegant serving element or just a warm decorative object for your table or living room. It is presented in an elegant gift box. Constantin collection owes its name to its inspirer. It is in fact the modern art of Constantin Brancusi that has guided the designer’s hand to conceive candelabra, bookends, containers and centre pieces in wood, marble, brass and bronze. Taking up Brancusi ability to represent the essence of things with a high degree of abstraction, designer Agustina Bottoni has shaped the candlesticks and bookends thinking of the columns and bases of Brancusi famous sculptures. For the container and centerpiece she has been inspired instead by the works in which almost raw solid wood is contrasted with polished and mirrored metal.

  • Unusual 18th Century Venetian Center Piece in Carved Walnut Wood, Circa 1780
    Located in Dallas, TX
Although the Rococo in France (where the style originated) lasted from roughly 1725 to 1760, other countries in Europe produced period art and furniture until the late 18th century. One such country was Italy and in particular, Venice, where this unusual carved walnut centerpiece was hand-carved, circa 1780. A large shell-form bowl with volute leaf embellishments is being held by three putti emerging from an undulating base. The wave pattern is reminiscent of a foaming sea, further indicated by the stylized dolphin tails emerging from the spray. All of the tails are textured with a lozenge-patterned background, protruding as high-relief elements. On the underside, the scalloped tips of the water swing down in three areas, forming well-disguised feet. The carvings of the centerpiece are quite exceptional, given the height and breadth of the piece. A wonderful decorative accessory for any large table, our walnut Venetian centerpiece...
