This beautiful Napoleon III period silvered bronze centerpiece, which can also be used as a jardinière, is completely in the Louis XV style, with its decorations of foliage.
The Louis XV style is characterized by its lightness, its elegance and invites to relaxation and distractions, as opposed to the Louis XIV style, which exudes power and imposes respect to the point of becoming overwhelming. The characteristics of the Louis XV style are: curves and patterns such as shells, foliage and garlands. This style is often referred to as rococo or rocaille.
