About the Item

This delicate wall portrait was sculpted in Provence, France circa 1860. Crafted in terracotta, the oval bas-relief depicts the profile of a young woman adorned with a blue ribbon in her hair and dressed in a pale blue bodice. The cameo is set within an ornate rectangular frame richly decorated with hand-painted roses, leaves, and beaded trim in soft hues of green, pink, and beige. Entirely handmade, the piece reflects the romantic sensibility of mid-19th-century French decorative arts. It retains its original painted patina and offers a refined touch of charm and femininity to any interior setting, ideal for a bedroom, dressing area, or powder room. Measures: 17" W x 20" H.
