Cara Baker Doulton Lambeth Thistle Shaped Leaf Pattern Vase
About the Item
A delightful Doulton Lambeth aesthetic movement thistle shaped vase applied with stylized leaf and floral designs by Clara Baker and dated 1878. This nice early stoneware vase stands raised on three small round column shape legs with shallow round lower body and trumpet shaped top. The lower body decorated in relief with leaf patterning in green and blue with white stipple centres. The upper body is decorated with abstract intertwined triangular opee work patterning around small flower heads and tiwth leaf terminals. Painted in tones of white, brown and blue on a lighter brown ground. The vase has a natural salt glazed finish to inside and has impressed Doulton Lambeth marks to the base along with incised artist marks and is dated 1878.
Provenance: from the personal collection of Belgium based gentleman.
In good presentable condition with a minor glaze scuff to the upper edge as shown in our images.
