Goldscheider Vienna dancing lady wearing rarely painted dress, decorated with nicest stylized flowers' pattern: This figurine - called "Susette" - is the famous actress Lilian Harvey. Designed by Stefan (= Stephen) Dakon (1904-1992), modelled circa 1937 (based on contemporary photo made in March 1937) / manufactured 1938. model number 8083 / 411 / 2 Hallmarked: Goldscheider WIEN (= VIENNA) stamp mark Made in Germany (= Austria has become part of Germany in March 1938) painter's and modeller's signs existing Additionally, there is the signature 'DAKON' visible at reverse side of base. Subject: A posed lady dancer Handsome woman clad in abundantly painted rose red - black - greyish shaded dress with stunning flower patterns (pinks / cloves) / the figurine is walking, raising her dress with both hands. - This figurine is called 'Susette', depicting the famous actress LILIAN HARVEY. Lilian Harvey (1906-1968) was daughter of a British mother as well as of a German father. Harvey who became a famous actress, singer and dancer in the 1920s had been firstly taught - as from the year 1923 - at ballet school of German Opera of Berlin and was engaged as dancer in Hungary and Austria then. She cooperated in 12 films with Willy Fritsch, and in the year 1930 Harvey achieved the road to success by the romantic film LIEBESWALZER (= WALTZ OF LOVE). In the year 1931 the film 'Der Kongreß tanzt' (= The Congress Dances) was made, where Harvey sang a song called 'Christels Lied' (= SONG OF CHRISTEL), better known as 'Das gibt's nur einmal' (= IT OCCURS ONLY ONCE), which is well known until nowadays. Lilian Harvey's career was stopped in period of German National Socialism since she didn't cooperate with cruel politics: Therefore she had to emigrate to Southern France first and later to USA then. Harvey returned to Europe after end of Second World War, and settled in Germany as well as in France where she died in the year 1968.
