Mason's Ironstone Desert Dish or Plate Rare Gold Chrysanthemum Ptn, circa 1818

About

This is a very decorative, beautifully decorated ironstone pottery desert plate or dish in the gold Chrysanthemum pattern, produced by the Mason's Factory at Lane Delph, Staffordshire, England, circa 1818. This is a rare pattern. The plate is circular with radial ribs and a lobed rim. This desert plate is beautifully decorated in one of Mason's striking and rare chinoiserie, Imari patterns, called: "Gold Chrysanthemum" pattern. The pattern is richly hand painted over a printed red outline in bold enamels of cobalt blue, burnt orange and salmon all in varying shades, with much hand gilded detail. This rare pattern is illustrated on Page 148 of Mason's Pattern book published by The Mason's Collectors' Club. The base has the single line impressed mark "MASON's PATENT Ironstone China" which is recorded as being one of the earliest impressed factory marks indicating a date of circa 1813-1820, making this plate one of the earliest pieces of Mason's, as Ironstone was only produced by them from 1813, which is late George 111 period. This piece is in superb condition for its age with only minimal pattern wear.
