Mica Ore, Vessel O, Slip Cast Ceramic Vase, N/O Vessels Collection

$185per item

About

Brave Matter studio’s first accessories collection is characterized by brave silhouettes and evocative material finishes. Uniting ceramic with wood they create utilitarian objects that are equally resolute and ethereal, visceral and reflective. Necessary Objects is a collection of utilitarian vessels inspired by the mechanisms of desire—motivated repetition; synaptic patterns reinforcing themselves over countless repeated occasions. N/O Vessels are a selection of vessels appropriated from the N/O Service collection. Vessel O in the Vessel Series is a carafe in vase disguise, dressed in an array of Prehistoric ceramic coatings. Plant-safe. N/O Vessel glazes emphasize an interdependence between minerals in the clay and glaze—inducing a myriad of subtle, and at times, volatile expression of texture, color and depth. Variation is expected. Vessel O: narrow-neck vase Color: Mica Ore - an iron-rich, warm brown, textural glaze with bronze mica flakes. Material: Slip cast ceramic. ~vessel O Ø 3¼ × H 8" - 1" opening 20 oz / 550 ml.

Customization Options

Available colors: Moss Pink - a pale pink volatile lithium-rich glaze, reacting to minerals in the clay. Strata - a turquoise glaze carefully applied to create a multi-color striated effect. Mica Ore - an iron-rich, warm brown, textural glaze with bronze mica flakes. *For custom commissions please inquire.

About The Maker

Brave Matter is an Oakland-based design studio, creating objects for the interior with a focus on utility and desire. Exploiting material properties, fabrication methodology and the narrative potential of objects, our approach disregards convention in favor of something altogether more brave. --- Established in 2016, by Christina Zamora and Cathy Lo, with the belief that objects have the power to influence how we feel—through intention, materials and process. Our lighting and accessories collections are characterized by brave silhouettes and evocative material juxtaposition. The work unites ceramic with salt, brass, and wood to create utilitarian objects that are equally resolute and ethereal, visceral and reflective. --- Our approach is hands-on. We design, research, prototype, manufacture and assemble in-house. We harness industrial disciplines and craft expertise to produce work that blurs boundaries between studio practice and mass production.
