Romantic Chinese Scenes Fine Earthenware 8 Plates by Creil 1834-1840

About the Item

Set of 8 Chinoiseries Scenes lunch plates (+ 1 for free with a crack). Made of opaque porcelain, they had a principal scene showing various scenes of extreme-oriental kids playing together in several landscapes printed in pink on a white background. On the border, pink pagodas and flowers are printed on an almond-green background. This model was created by Creil Manufactory at this time called St Cricq-Casaux & Cie before merging with Montereau in, 1840. The model was conceived between 1834 and 1840. It existed in several colors, but this combination of pink and green is very rare and makes this set particularly decorative and in the perfect spirit of the beloved 18th-century chinoiseries in the taste of Boucher's designs. Each plate is marked in colored letters "PORCELAINE OPAQUE / DE / ST CRICQ CASAUX & CIE / À CREIL / MÉDAILLE D'OR / 1834" with the number of the model stamped in the paste. This set was composed of 8 plates and received a gold medal to reward the high quality of the quality and delicacy of decor!
