Tall Art Deco Stoneware Vase by Andre Legrand for Les Freres Mougin, Nancy

About

A tall, French Art Deco vase designed by Andre Legrand (1902-1947) for Les Freres Mougin (Joseph and Pierre Mougin), Nancy, France. As is typical of Mougin ceramics, the vase depicts stylized nature elephants in a natural, idealized setting of trees and plants. By using well-defined, incised lines and simplified forms, Legrand creates a romanticized design--a rhapsody to nature. A beautiful vase.
