About

These tall vases in a metallic black glaze over stoneware are weighted on the bottom for tall floral arrangements or branches. Each surface is scraped to show the texture and tone of the clay, with varying bases or knobby edges. The top rims are either smooth or rough, but all are uneven. This one has a rough top rim. The interior glaze is another slightly matte black. Fully handmade, each one is unique. Signature chop at bottom. Sold separately but recommended in groups of 2, 3 or more. Hand wash. Measure: 17.5 inches.

About The Maker

Helena Starcevic Ceramics

Helena Starcevic Ceramics

View Profile
Helena Starcevic Ceramics produces work that straddles the line between fine and decorative art. Each piece is one of a kind, hand-built entirely by the artist in her New York studio.   Taking inspiration from the natural world, Ms. Starcevic's work includes references to the stark beauty of the desert, prehistoric cave paintings, and the human form (within and without). Everything is filtered through Ms. Starcevic’s own singular aesthetic, at once quiet yet strong, meditative, and beautiful. Pieces are made in different clays and finishes, and at different scales. Groupings are available. Helena Starcevic’s ceramic pieces are held in private collections across the US and Europe. She has held numerous residencies including one at the Museum of Art and Design in New York City.
