Upsala Ekeby Swedish Midcentury Art Pottery Dish with Nude

About the Item

A delightful and unusual midcentury Swedish art pottery dish mounted with a nude lady by Upsala Ekeby. The dish is heavily made in terracotta clay and of shallow circular form with a simple straight raised edge and with the figure of a naked lady lying around the inside edge to one side. The figure is well modelled and decorated in thick bright orange glazes which contrast with the light mottled honey glazed body of the dish. The footrim is ungalzed with a recessed glazed base and with an impressed EKEBY mark. Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market. In good condition with light wear associated with age and use.
