About
This is a high quality Art Deco period, porcelain octagonal Bowl from the Fairyland Lustre range, pattern Z4827, designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones and made by the Wedgwood factory, England, circa 1925.
This beautiful bowl has a mottled opalescent green-blue, mother of pearl ground to the interior with finely painted gilt and enamel butterflies to the side and a central octagonal motif to the base. The exterior is decorated with a mottled ruby red-gold ground, painted with dragons. other mythical animals and symbols with geometric gilt banding beneath the rim.
It is marked to the base with the Gilt Portland Vase mark to the base, and the Pattern No. Z4827 written in gold, with a single "F" below the pattern number. Note some of the gilding to the makers mark has worn away but the Wedgwood and England are still mainly visible.
We date this beautiful piece to circa 1925.
