Baccarat. Louis XVI style 43-piece gilt glassware set, France, mid-19th century

About the Item

43-piece French glassware set from Baccarat, 19th century. According to references from the 1916 Baccarat catalogue, this glassware is in the Louis XVI style, similar to models 11582 and 7776 in crystal mousseline. This set is made up of two water decanter jugs, five water glasses, eight red wine glasses, eight champagne glasses, ten porto glasses and ten liquor glasses. All the pieces are handmade in blown glass and have decorations with vegetable garlands and bows. The jugs have a top rim and a golden handle, and the rest of the pieces have a golden trim on both the top and the base. All engraved and gilded decorations have been fire-gilded. Two of the liquor glasses still retain the Baccarat label on their base (see photos). Great opportunity to acquire a truly unique and numerous set. Two small defects in two pieces, see the two last photos.
