Beaux-Art Style 6 French Ground Crystal Liqueur Glasses

About the Item

We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Set of 6 French ground crystal liqueur glasses; crystal with a lead content of 30% was used in their execution; the high lead content, replacing calcium, found in ordinary glass, gives the crystal considerable hardness, exceptional transparency and a high refractive index; with the techniques of cutting, grinding and polishing, scrupulously performed by hand, extraordinary plays of light and reflections have been created; the shape of the glasses is classic but very refined and elegant, they have simple and delicate grinding, they have also been ground with precise and dense faceting to enhance the diamond refraction of light; were made in the Beaux-Art style between 1920 and 1925 in an artisanal workshop in the Nancy district (France), famous for its high concentration of factories and artisans specializing in crystal work (Daum, Baccarat, Saint Louis, etc.); certainly the artist who created the glasses was also performing work for Saint Louis, in fact in the grinding designs he was inspired by the famous crystalware and finished the objects with the same high quality as Saint Louis. The Parisian style, Beaux-Arts originated from the legendary École des Beaux-Arts (School of Fine Arts) in Paris; flourishing during the 19th and early 20th centuries, it was a grandiose elaboration of the finest French neoclassicism, also incorporated Renaissance and Baroque elements, but used modern materials, both in architecture and objects, such as iron, glass, and crystal; was important in France until the early 1900s, this style is taken up in neighboring European countries but also, with great success, in the United States. Our glasses are exquisitely crafted artifacts that exude culture, art, class, and quality and can give your environment an unmistakable mark of style combined with a special charm, with aristocratic and elite tones. The glasses are in good condition. We kindly suggest that you read the entire description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Exceptional and valuable whiskey bottle; has been made with a lead crystal of the highest quality with a high thickness in order to grind it deeper than normal, which allows the light to reflect in a much brighter and more brilliant way; in order for this to happen, the geometry of the grinding is also specially designed and executed. The bottle turns out to be much heavier than others on the market. We must at this point make an important clarification about the finishing of our bottle: towards the end of the 1960s, acid crystal polishing was devised in Germany; the object was immersed and rotated in a solution of sulfuric acid, fluoridic acid, and water and in a short time all the defects left by previous processes were eliminated; it was a fast, industrial operation that allowed costs to be lowered considerably, with discrete but not excellent results. This method is still used today for almost all crystal objects. But for our bottle, traditional hand polishing was used with cork wheels immersed in pumice and cerium oxide dissolved in water, which thanks to their abrasive and polishing action give the product a perfect polish. The squares of the bottle were individually polished one by one, as well as the horizontal and vertical grindings by two specialized craftsmen who took about two days of work, achieving a very high standard of quality on an artifact of inestimable value. The bottle was made between 1990 and 1995 by Moleria Locchi...
