19th Century Cobalt-Blue Crystal 'Drageoir'

About the Item

An unusual cobalt-blue crystal 'drageoir', or sweet jar, with clear pedestal and fitted lid. Dating from around the 19th century, this quirky cut-to-clear overlaid container, decorated all round with clear cut-out circular windows, would have been filled with an array of sweet treats and bon-bons ready to tempt anyone with a sweet tooth. A beautiful and rare item, with a very practical use.
