French Faïence Longchamp Terre de Fer Pavots Art Nouveau Floral Plate

About the Item

From the Longchamp Faience factory, founded in Burgundy, France in 1832, Terre de Fer plates in the Pavots pattern, circa 1890-1912. Pavots, French for Poppy, was designed by Robert Charbonnier in the Art Nouveau style. The floral pattern is a deep blue-gray transfer printed on a cream colored ironstone body. The dinner sized plates show a stylized bouquet of open poppies, seed heads and leaves. A twining Morning Glory vine is seen in the background. The rims are scalloped with a raised molded lining following a wide inner paneled area. Measures: 10.5 in. Diameter x 1.25 in. Height Marked: Printed mark showing Longchamp and the pattern name in an Art Nouveu cartouche. Impressed Terre de Fer. Multiple plates are available, offered individually. The expected light wear – All plates are in very good condition.
