About

Lemon-green glass vase and white interior; the design is linear and simple but very proportioned and elegant; the lemon-green shade is also pleasant. Produced in Murano by the company C.Nason between 1980 and 1985. The vase is signed on the bottom. Born in Murano in 1935, Nason comes from one of the oldest families of glassmakers on the island. Carlo Nason takes possession of the most refined techniques of glass art and uses them in the field of design, creating a skillful combination of technique and high craftsmanship, tradition, and innovation. At the beginning of his career, in the Sixties, he collaborated with the family glassworks V. Nason & C with which he created some pieces that are in the collection of the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning New York. Between 1965 and 1980 he collaborated with the A.V. Mazzega glassworks in Murano. He has worked with all the most important companies in Murano, Vetreria Vistosi, Vetreria Carlo Moretti and Vetreria Livio Seguso. Since the Eighties, he has collaborated with the Firme Di Vetro Group of Salzano, with the De Majo glassworks of Murano, and with Leucos of Salzano. The vase was produced in Murano with the technique of glazing (incamiciatura), which consists of superimposing on the glass mass, in the first phase of processing, one or more successive layers of glass of various colors. The glazing is thin glass, generally characterized by a double glass layer. It is an ancient technique, widely used even now, which is obtained by dipping a blown glass in a Crucible of a glass of different colors. In the end, you will have a thin blown of two or more layers of different colors (for example a white can be covered with green (see our vase), or colored glass can be covered with a light glass layer). The first news about this technique concerned Benedetto Barbaria, who in 1815 produced "blown glass with two layers of enamel". Measures : D.cm.10 ,H.cm.20.
