Frederick Carder Art Nouveau Alabaster Glass Museum Piece, Stevens and Williams

About the Item

An important small Frederick Carder Art Nouveau Rose Flambé Alabaster vase by Stevens and Williams originally from their own museum and probably unique. Alabaster glass was first created by Frederick Carder at Stevens and Williams before he emigrated to America and started working for Steuben --it's documented that the Rose Flambé color was made by Steven & Williams but never sold -this piece remained in their museum and could have been one of the last pieces Carder made before his departure to the US and one of only a tiny number of Stevens & Williams produced Rose Flambé. This was purchased by us at the Sotheby's sale of 'The Royal Brierley Collection of English Glass' (03/03/1998) when they sold off the contents of the Royal Brierley/Stevens & Williams Museum (Honeybourne) -it still has the label and lot number from that auction -as well as a second sadly unreadable label.
