Set of Koloman Moser Designed 'Lucca Liquor' Bohemian Glasses by Meyr's Neffe

About

Superb full set of six Art Nouveau 'Lucca Liquor' glasses designed by Koloman Moser and made by Meyr's Neffe; a pair each in green, pink and blue - each are marked with a circular shield saying Lucca Liquors and the date 1900. The pink glass shields are outlined in gold the other two pairs are filed in in gold. Koloman Moser was possibly the greatest designer of the late 19th and early 20th century. He frequently appears in major exhibition and this is one of his most famous designs At its peak (circa 1875) Meyr's Neffe was probably the biggest and best art glass house in the world, with, at one time, eight large scale factories to its name. The most successful part of the company was its facility for making the finest and most fashionable stemware. Austrian's particularly loved their hock glasses, champagne and liquor glasses. Meyr's Neffe created unusual designs, and employed many complex techniques to produce their best stemware, but their prettiest glasses by far were their enamelware. Meyr's Neffe produced drinking glass designs by most of the great decorative artist of the time, most notably Koloman Moser and much of their production was for the two great Viennese distributors Bacalowitz and Lobmeyr and later for the Wiener Werkstätte. Sadly in 1922 Meyr's Neffe was absorbed into Moser.
