"Supplication to Sun and Moon, " Tour de Force Art Deco Vase, Engraved Glass
About the Item
Featuring two nude female figures in an exotic setting, framed by palm trees and cactus, each reaching to or bowing before the sun and moon, this superb engraved glass vase was designed by F. Muller for one of the famed Bohemian/Czech glass makers in the 1930s. In that period the two major centers of renowned glass engraving were Sweden and Bohemia, the latter a part of the Czech Republic between the wars. The flaring glass vase sits on a saucer which is also decorated with engraved stars, matching the sky of the vase.
