Antique German naive engraved pewter tray
German, c. 1743
Height 4.5cm, width 98cm, depth 56cm
This fine German tray is crafted from pewter, an alloy of tin long used to create decorative pieces. The tray is of irregular shape, and features a large central panel surrounded by a raised rim. The central panel is engraved with images of a house, a wreath, and various other emblems, as well as a central roundel faintly marked and inscribed ‘1743’ for the year.
