Antique Victorian Dinner Bell with a Figural Bird Handle and Set Shells

About the Item

This antique dinner bell is unsigned, but presumed to have been made in England in circa 1900 in the period Victorian style. The bell housing is made of cast spelter with a bronze finish and has detailed flowers and grapes around the bottom and a figural bird in flight at the top which functions as a handle. The bell mechanism is composed of a simple spring with a wire arm which when depressed pulls the striker back and rings the small brass bell housed behind three set shells. The housing sits on a round white stone base. The bell or chime works as intended and the spring mechanism is firm and sturdy.
