Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Condiment Set, 1899

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver three piece condiment/cruet set - boxed; an addition to our dining silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian English sterling silver condiment set consists of a mustard pot and two condiment shakers. The shakers have a circular rounded form to a circular pedestal foot and the mustard pot has an oval form onto four bun style feet. The surface of each component is encircled with impressive pierced decoration, comprising interlacing arch and oval designs accented with circular motifs. The upper and lower portion of the mustard pot is further embellished with a gadroon decorated border, and the posterior surface bears a shaped sterling silver handle. The exceptional mustard pot is fitted with the original domed hinged cover, surmounted with baluster shaped finial. These condiment shakers each retain the original domed hallmarked push fit cover ornamented with pierced decoration. The circular foot of each shaker is embellished with impressive embossed bead decoration, to a plain collet rim. Each component is fitted with a blue glass liner. This antique condiment set is accompanied by an associated Albany pattern hallmarked Birmingham sterling silver mustard spoon. This antique Victorian condiment set is fitted to the original and very impressive hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior and secures with a push fit catch. The interior of the box bears the retailer's mark 'Percy Webster, 37 Gt Portland St, London, W'. This exceptional condiment set is a large example of its type. Condition This antique Victorian condiment set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and exceptional condition. Each component has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the mustard pot, surface of each shaker and reverse of the spoon, in addition to the part hallmarks to the covers are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of a silver condiment set for dining table. The impressive Art Deco salts, mustard pots and sauce pales have circular rounded forms and the accompanying pepper pots each have a plain baluster form.
