Antique Victorian 1866 Sterling Silver Goblet

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver goblet; an addition to our collection of wine and drinks related silverware. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver goblet has a circular bell shaped form onto a waisted knopped stem and swept circular foot. The body of this antique goblet is embellished with bright cut engraved floral and foliate festoons. The decoration to the body incorporates an oval vacant cartouche to the centre. The upper portion of the goblet is encompassed with bright cut engraved decoration to the border, incorporating two undulating bands. The lower portion of the body features further undulating bands of impressive bright cut engraved decoration. The foot of the exceptional goblet is ornamented with further bands of bright cut engraved decoration, encircling the plain and unembellished stem. Condition This antique bright cut engraved silver goblet is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The goblet has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the goblet are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of Victorian silverware.     An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver goblet; an addition to our collection of wine and drinks related silverware This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver goblet has a circular bell shaped form onto a knopped stem and circular spreading foot. The body of this 1870s silver goblet is embellished with bright cut engraved foliate festoons accented with pensile leaf drops; these vertical designs form four cartouches. The cartouche to one side bears a bright cut engraved fruit design; the further three remain vacant. The knopped stem is encircled with a plain moulded border to the centre. The foot is ornamented with further bright cut engraved overlapping arch designs, accented with an applied bead decorated border to the rim. Condition This antique 1870s silver goblet is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The goblet has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp and the applied ornamentation is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the goblet are all very clear.
