19th Century Belgium Painted Ceramic Barbotine Sailor Pitcher from Nimy Les Mons

About the Item

Decorate a wet bar with this charming, sculptural Majolica pitcher, crafted in Nimy Les Mons, Belgium circa 1890, the antique, barbotine jug similar to the one of Onnaing, features a smiling sailor with his hands holding his pants in a defiant pose. The body and handle are hand painted in a brown palette, and the inside has a traditional pink tone. The sculpted ceramic is stamped on the bottom for additional authentication.
