Large Impressive Antique Water Pitcher
About the Item
An exceptional, large antique Victorian walled pitcher for ice water has a bold circular rounded body. The jug makes a wonderful decorative piece. The upper rim is ornamented with an impressive egg and dart decorated border, incorporating a plain applied molded segment to the spout, also rimmed with the same egg and dart design. This fine example of antique jug is fitted with a cast opposing scrolling handle, in addition to the lower terminal. A decorative pointed finial tops the lid giving it greater presence and balance. The jug in the shape of a tankard was once silver-plated but is now highly tarnished but adding to it, greater overall character and interest. Stamped at the bottom, patented by JAs. STIMPSON 1854 extended for seven years.
