Large Meissen Green Court Dragon Platter Painted with Dragons and Phoenix Birds

About the Item

I want to offer you this beautiful Meissen green court dragon large platter dating back to the 1880s. The platter is 19 inches wide and 13.5 inches tall. You can see the detailed paintings of the dragons and the phoenix birds and the rich gold accents on this Meissen platter. The original Meissen court dragon pattern was believed to come from a Chinese motif. The long dragon represented the emperor and the phoenix bird was a symbol for the empress, which also stood for wisdom and benevolence. This is a wonderful example of how the Meissen court dragon was beautifully painted in the nineteenth century. This platter is large enough to serve a turkey or even a whole dinner including the main course and the vegetables. It would also be an eye catching decoration in your home. Price of Meissen platter-$1800.00.
