Late Georgian Masons Ironstone Serving Dish in Floral Pattern, Circa 1830

About the Item

This is a very decorative serving dish or platter, made by Mason's Ironstone, Lane Delph, England in a very colourful floral pattern, dating to the late Georgian English Regency period, circa 1825 to 1830. This Desert dish or platter has a rectangular shape with curved raised edges, sitting on a low foot and with two moulded side handles. It is decorated in one of Mason's Chinese influenced hand painted patterns called "Wavy Floral Chain Border" with gilt highlights, as documented on page 51 of:- A Guide to Mason's Patent Ironstone Patterns, circa 1813-1848, published by The Masons Collectors'' club. This is quite a rarely seen pattern. The platter has one of the earliest ironstone printed marks to the base; " Patent Ironstone China " in a banner below a small rounded crown with MASON'S above, which dates it to circa 1825 to 1830. Overall a very decorative and useful serving platter or dish by Mason's Ironstone nearly 200 years old!
