Aesthetic Movement Japanesque Cabinet Plate Attributed to Christopher Dresser

About the Item

A very fine Aesthetic Movement porcelain cabinet plate decorated in the Japanesque style attributed to Christopher Dresser and dated 1877. The plate, possibly Minton, is finely made in white porcelain with a Japanese fan shape set within a bright yellow border and heavily embellished with gilding with finely applied gilded detail on a black ground. The plate is exquisitely hand painted with a flowering shrub with rising stems supporting pink and white blooms and with a butterfly descending to the flowers.
