Derby Porcelain Georgian Rare Hand Painted Dish

About the Item

A rare and unusual Georgian Derby Porcelain dish finely hand painted colored enamels dating from around 1790. The oval shaped dish has a raised scalloped rim and is hand painted with a series of flour panels set around a central panel. The central panel is decorated with stylized floral designs in orange and blue and highlighted with gilding and set within a simple blue line border. The panels around the edge are decorated with a central panel containing floral designs with a scroll and floral surround and repeated on two sides with the other two panels with a central panel containing a leaping cat in a landscape set within a cross hatch patterned surround. The dish is also extensively painted to underside of the rim with stylized floral designs and patterns and has an early blue painted mark to the base. With a very old paper sale label attached. The dish has a hairline to the rim with some staining to the body and with some minor glaze fritting however it displays well and is a rare example.
