Early English Pair Porcelain Imari Pattern Cabinet Plates c.1810
About the Item
A very stylish and fine pair of early English porcelain plates hand decorated in the Imari style and dating from around 1810. The plates of round shape stand raised on a narrow round foot with a raised edge and recessed centre. Both are hand painted in tones of green, blue and red with stylized bow and floral patterning set amidst geometric shapes. The decoration is bold and vibrant on a white ground and embellished with gilding which has also been applied to the rim and as a border to the centre of the plate. The plates are not marked but undoubtedly by a quality maker.
Provenance: acquired in the British Art Market.
In good condition with only light gilding wear.
